Exploring Lived Experiences of Social Identity Transformation Among Productive Zakat Beneficiaries within the Muslim Community in Indonesia
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study investigates how beneficiaries of productive zakat experience social identity transformation and empowerment. Using an interpretative phenomenological approach (IPA), in-depth interviews were conducted with 15 beneficiaries to capture their lived experiences. The thematic analysis revealed four key dimensions: rediscovering dignity, negotiating social identity, spiritual transformation, and building resilience. The findings show that productive zakat functions not only as financial support but also as a catalyst for personal and social transformation. This study contributes by emphasizing the psychosocial and spiritual aspects of zakat-based empowerment and offering insights for developing integrated empowerment models and future research on its long-term social impacts.
