Healing and Personal Transformations after Stem Cell Therapy in Chronic Wound Care
Main Article Content
Abstract
Regenerative medicine and tissue engineering have transformed chronic wound management through advanced therapies such as stem cell interventions. However, the subjective experience of patients undergoing such therapies remains underexplored, representing a critical research gap. This study aimed to examine how patients with chronic wounds perceive and interpret their healing after receiving stem cell therapy. A descriptive phenomenological approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth, semi-structured interviews with ten patients and analyzed using thematic reduction techniques. The analysis identified four central themes: healing as a second chance at life, the non-linear trajectory of recovery, embodied awareness, and the role of interpersonal and spiritual support. These findings demonstrate that healing extends beyond physical repair to encompass emotional, relational, and existential dimensions. By highlighting these multidimensional experiences, this study contributes to advancing human-centered care in regenerative therapy and underscores the need for integrative clinical practices that recognize the patient’s narrative as central to the healing process.
